its a tree out of a 55 years old hedge with realy bad roots while I diged it. I cut the trunk just underneth one only growing root above ... so I called it airlayering.
I do airlayering at this specie and it needs about 1-2 years, thats my experiance.

Ach was ;-)... das sind yamadoris die jetzt ausgegraben wurden aber im Frühjahr 2011 zuerst zurückgeschnitten wurden. Das hat den Vorteil, dass sie neue Knospen am Standort machen und eine höhere Überlebenschance nach yamadori haben und besser starten. Bei manchen Crataegen warte ich sogar 2 Jahre oder moose sehr dicke sogar am Standort unterirdisch zusätzlich ab ( an den dicken Pfahlwurzeln ... usw., usw ...

Ich habe bisher noch keine Buddeleja als Bonsai gesehen. Der Baum beeindruckt mich aufgrund seiner Reife, die er jetzt schon ausstrahlt. Schönes Totholz und wunderbare kleine Blätter - ein schönes Exemplar - Glückwunsch dazu.

Hola Alex,
Betula is very easy and as far not so dificult as juniperus or taxus but it depends of the soil and the aerea of yamadori. My yamadoriaerea is a sump/they grow in pur peat and I need simply 2 min to dig one out with good roots.
Give it after digging Lavasubstrate with 20 % peat, water it consequently and in the beginning halfshadow when the buds come and leaves will sprout. When roots are already there, full sun but think about that they are "drinkers" ( therefore the peat will stuff the water a little bit more in your climate. They love to get nutrititions in the cheapeast form ( what ever you can offer - organic or minerals). Many fun and good Luck by yamadori ;-)

I am thinking in collect some betulas next February or March.

What is your experience with them? Do you think are harder to grow up after collecting or are quite diffucult as juniperus or taxus?

I know dry air here in Madrid is a huge disadvantage against the new growings...

Das ist wirklich ein imposanter Lärchen-Tanuki...in seiner reduzierten Form und den attraktiven Totholzstrukturen wirkt er nahezu skulptural...mit deinen unterstützenden Totholzarbeiten hast du ihn auf einen guten Weg gebracht...
bin gespannt, wie die Lärche sich auf Dauer entwickelt
