Picea abies ... The owner of the hotel

This high mountain spruce I got from a "Trade" for a rock bowl of Walter Pall last year (2009) . It is a Yamadori, however, it shows already sporadically roots but it will still certainly needs some years to touch foot around properly. It stands in Maxit and I have still given a little peat into to brake this damn permeable substrate a little in his drainage effect and have still integrated a little Sphagnum. Weekly it is fertilised with horse fertilizer broth and gets everything what he needs. At the beginning of the year it has put timidly new buds and now it starts to lay in again new buds and to show back budding... everything is ok.

Walter has given me or better it one of his typical and exceedingly urgent tree discussions and in his likeable, bavarian (or tyrolean?) dialect. I write it in High German :-).

Thus one is this you can compare to the following story ...

You went in the mountains and you want a hotel for an overnight stay. There an old man with dilapidated things, broken teeth and uncombed hair suddenly stands in the neighbour of you and asks whether he can carry your suitcases. You affirm and, besides, imagine, that he only wants one coin for that. On the way in the hotel you get into conversation with him and notice that he is quite rather friendly, a special and attentive person and acome at the hotel he still asks you whether you may drink a whisky with him. You still talk to him for a while and then you go to your room ...

The next day you ask in the adoption for this old, dilapidated however very likeable old man and it it is said to you that this has been the hotel proprietor, for the rest he still is the owner of the whole valley ...

Such concerns a this tree here... Walter said after this history... In the first impression you imagine, now, a spruce with side branches to become little trunks ... nothing exciting, nothing special... just a spruce from one can form no typical spruceoutlook. But if you leave it its characteristic of its growth, do not take from it its character and try to style something else from him, you will see that its characteristic can make it a little bit completely special and you will like it just because of his earthy kind.

To it I have come up to now in that way, while I have not provided it yet with dead wood and have strongly bent his branch parts etc., but up to now I have pulled only small branch parts. If it is really vital, and this will last certainly still some years, I will will try to workout his special kind more and also the dead wood will be prepaired and then I will set it on a rock bowl specially tinkered for it, so that he can look "in his valley".

This is only the beginning of his steps forward.

saludos y hasta manana in alter frische
